The Best Restaurants in San Antonio
Aug 31 , 2011
San Antonio is known for its history and culture, as well as its diverse and interesting residents. The restaurants in San Antonio, however, are as eclectic as the city's residents. Everyone, no matter what his or her tastes are, will have a favorite restaurant in this culture rich city.
Magnolia Pancake Haus
Breakfast is said to be the most important meal of the day, and the Magnolia Pancake House has this meal covered. Unlike some of the other restaurants in San Antonio, this establishment serves breakfast as long as it's open. Located on Embassy Oaks, this restaurant is open for casual dining during breakfast and lunch.
The Magnolia Pancake Haus takes its pancakes very seriously. You can choose from plain, apple cinnamon, bacon, or pecan pancakes, among others. They also offer an impressive array of other breakfast and lunch items at a reasonable price.
Chris Madrid's Nachos and Burgers
This old gas station on Blanco Road is an excellent place to stop and grab a quick bite. Of all the restaurants in San Antonio, this may be the best for burgers.
Those with big appetites can choose a Macho size burger at this award winning San Antonio restaurant. Fresh cut fries and nachos are also available, along with chalupas.
Rudy's Barbecue
There must be something about gas stations turned restaurants in San Antonio. Rudy's Barbecue, located on West Interstate 10, also used to be a gas station and garage. Along with the casual atmosphere and reasonable prices, visitors can also look forward to excellent food in this barbecue joint.
All food is cooked over a wood fire in pits. Several different types of barbecued food are available, including ribs and brisket. Sandwiches and traditional sides, like potato salad, are also available.
Big Lou's Pizza
Big Lou's is one of the most famous pizza restaurants in San Antonio, and for good reason. Located on South WW White Road, this restaurant offers some of the best – and biggest – pizza around.
Their 42-inch pizzas are huge, and one of these babies should be enough to feed your family and friends. Even if everyone wants a different type of pizza, that's not a problem at Big Lou's. Toppings can be separated into halves or quarters, so everyone gets what they like.
Paloma Blanco
Located on Broadway Street, Paloma Blanco offers tasty Mexican cuisine. Although there are several different Mexican restaurants in San Antonio, this one stands out.
The interior of this restaurant is decorated to resemble a traditional hacienda. Sofas and a fireplace create a relaxing atmosphere. Along with excellent Mexican food, this restaurant also boasts an impressive list of different types of tequila.
Chama Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse
If you are looking for a more upscale dining experience, Chama Gaucha is one of the more sophisticated restaurants in San Antonio. This establishment has excellent food as well as excellent service, and it is a great place to celebrate a special occasion.
All diners are welcome to the large salad bar, which is loaded with fresh vegetables and fruits. Servers will then visit your table often to allow you to choose from their tender and juicy selections of meat. When you've had your fill, simply flip the card given to you from green to red.
